Tile We Have Faces Entry #1

Till We Have Faces is an interesting story in and of itself, however, the point that was brought up by Dr. Redick tonight is one that I had never taken into consideration before. The relationship between Psyche and Orual is one that is based in Orual wanting control over Psyche. The scene in which we discussed in class is one that is a very sensitive subject to many so I decided to sit back and listen to the points being made and try to incorporate my answer in a better thought out manor on the blog.  In Till We Have Faces we see Orual threating to kill themselves because they feel no love, while it may seem true and a desperate cry for help, it can be further deduced that this is yet another manipulation trick to win over Psyche, Orual believed she was acting in an effort to win over her sister, but at what cost? Now, my thoughts on this scene is that it is a very powerful scene and extremely moving but it is not far off from what we see in the real world today people will say the craziest things to show their dedication, or to manipulate someone to stay and that is why I do not support what Orual is saying and why Psyche made the right decision.
